The 2023 Maucaillou has more freshness and refinement on the nose than the 2022 had at this stage last year (apparently the winemaking modus operandi has changed). The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins. Indeed, a couple of samples toward the end of my tastings accentuated that dryness and left the finish a bit hard. Hopefully, it will gain some flesh.

The 2023 Maucaillou offers notes of smoke, dark wild berries, spices, and menthol. The wine on the palate is medium-bodied, round and elegant with an enveloping texture, structured tannins and a long, penetrating finish.
