The 2023 Riesling Mölsheim auf dem Kalkofen Erste Lage is from a site that was finally classified as Erste Lage. It’s situated between Frauenberg and Schwarzer Herrgott in the cool Zellertal, right next to the Steinlinden parcel where Liquid Earth is made. This will not be released until next year. Youthful exuberance on the nose speaks of crunchy apple that promises as much freshness as ripeness. Subtle smoke trails citrus tones. The palate is pristine, cool, bright, bone-dry and incredibly juicy. This packs immensely beautiful lemon and tangerine notes into a superbly svelte, sleek, well-proportioned body. (Bone-dry) - Anne Krebiehl MW (08/2024)

Right on the edge. Terrific smoky and stony concentration on the compact yet juicy medium-bodied palate. This breaks the mold of medium-bodied, thanks to its intensity and drive. Extremely long, very chalky finish. As delicious as this is now, it really deserves more time for the citrusy fruit to recede slightly so that the minerality is dominant. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. - Stuart Pigott (08/2024)

From a vineyard adjacent to the Steinlinden C.O., the 2023 Mölsheim Auf dem Kalkofen Riesling 1G is clear, intense yet pure and aromatic on the refreshing chalky/lemony nose. Elegant and fresh, this is an uplifted, saline and complex, finely tannic dry Riesling with a stimulating clear, saline, long, savory and lemon-bitter finish with some mocha notes on the aftertaste. This has a beautiful expression of chalk. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024. - Stephan Reinhardt (10/2024)
