The 2023 L'Aurage comes from deep clayey soils. It has a notably understated bouquet with pure blackberry and raspberry aromas, just a touch of cedar emanating from the Cabernet Franc. The palate is slightly grainy in texture, with fine acidity and just a touch of dryness on the finish, but that will flesh out a little during élevage. White pepper and bay leaf emerge on the aftertaste. Fine. Give it 18-24 months once in bottle.

I loved the 2023 Domaine De L'Aurage, a ripe, medium-bodied, exotic Castillon that has tons of character. Ripe red and black fruits, spicy, vanilla-tinged oak, tobacco, medium to full body, and sweet tannins all define this beauty, and it's going to drink nicely right out of the gate. (05/2024)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 L'Aurage springs from the glass with vivacious notions of juicy raspberries, ripe blueberries, and wild fungi followed by hints of dried Provence herbs and mossy tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate has a chewy texture and lively backbone supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing with a savory lift. (05/2024)
