The 2023 La Prade is pliant, racy and super-expressive. Black cherry, blood orange, plum, spice, new leather and mocha are front and center. Bright acids and lifted floral notes energize the exotic, beautifully perfumed finish. There's a bit more Cabernet Franc this year, which very much comes through on the explosive, broad finish. This is nicely done.

This is very crunchy, with bright blackberries, cherries and some chocolate. Medium body, supporting a solid core of fruit and a flavorful finish. Shows energy. Another excellent wine from limestone soils. 79% merlot and 21% cabernet franc. (04/2024)

Smoky red and black fruits, tobacco, and leather notes all emerge from the 2023 Château La Prade, another beauty from this team offering medium-bodied richness, a supple, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. This savory, complex, satisfying effort should keep for 7-8 years as well and drink nicely right out of the gate. The blend is 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc, aging in 40% new French oak. The 2023 La Prade is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of juicy blackberries, cassis, and kirsch jump from the glass, with underlying suggestions of black pepper and lavender. The medium-bodied palate is bright and energetic, with lovely tension and soft, rounded tannins, finishing with a floral burst. The blend is 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc. (05/2024)

Located on the limestone plateau, the 2023 La Prade reveals a somber, dark bouquet of gentian, licorice, dark wild berries and spices. Medium-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, it’s rich and dense with structured tannins and a long, chalky finish. This is a blend of 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc.
