The 2023 Paveil de Luze is a potent Margaux Cru Bourgeois. Dark-toned fruit, spice, new leather and kick of French oak give the wine its extroverted personality. I find the oak a bit strong today, but the underlying material is quite promising.

The 2023 Paveil de Luze is a lovely bottle in the making, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with cigar wrapper, rose petals and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, layered and classy, this blend dominated by 95% Cabernet Sauvignon is likely to number among the sleepers of the en primeur campaign. It would embarrass plenty of classified growths in a blind tasting.
