The 2023 La Gurgue offers very good depth but is less expressive aromatically than it often is. Strong Cabernet Sauvignon inflections lend plenty of character. There's a bit of tightness in the tannins that suggests heat stress may have been an issue. I am very interested to see what elevage does here.

A fresh and focused red with a medium body and fine tannins. It’s crunchy, with good fruit concentration in the center-palate, showing plum and redcurrant highlights. Bright and firm at the end. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. (04/2024)

The 2023 Château La Gurgue will be terrific, with beautiful red and darker fruits as well as some tobacco, graphite, and chocolate notes. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has fine tannins, and beautiful density. The blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 14% Petit Verdot, raised in 15% new French oak. (05/2024)

A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and fully 13% Petit Verdot, the 2023 La Gurgue exhibits aromas of dark berries, licorice and boot polish, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy palate built around powdery tannins.
