The 2023 Haut-Brisson is quite floral and vibrant at the outset. Crushed flowers, cherry, blood orange, white pepper, mint and citrus peel add brightness. This Haut-Brisson is a bit of a mystery at this stage, as two samples revealed vegetal notes and angular contours. Tasted three times.

Another very focused 2023 St.-Emilion with berry, chocolate and earth notes. It’s medium- to full-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a bright, vivid and very long finish. Well-integrated tannins. This is one to watch. 95% merlot and 5% cabernet franc. Better than 2022. (04/2024)

Another killer Saint-Emilion, the 2023 Château Haut-Brisson is deep purple-hued, with a mineral-laced style in its ripe black fruits, violets, spicy wood, and graphite-driven aromas and flavors. It's a broad, ripe, seamless, full-bodied, weightless 2023 that has the vintage’s ethereal, weightless style, and it's a gorgeous wine in the making. (05/2024)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Haut-Brisson offers notes of plum pudding and fruitcake with suggestions of spice box, dusty soil, and dried herbs in the background. The medium-bodied palate is chewy and a little rustic, though with good concentration and a long spicy finish. (05/2024)
