The 2023 Citran has plenty of blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose, satisfying in terms of concentration though not complex. Yet, there is presence to these aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with a dab of sour cherry on the entry, lightly spiced with gentle grip. Quite linear towards the finish, this is enhanced by the sapidity that begs you to take another sip. In many ways, this is a very decent Citran in the making, though I was perturbed by an oxidized sample that appeared at my final tasting. Hopefully that was an just errant sample bottle.

This is medium-bodied with firm and taut tannins, showing crunchy fruit as well as some crushed herbs. Racy acidity adds length and focus. It’s a bit chewy at the end, yet vivid and balanced. (04/2024)
