The 2023 Cissac is missing the fruit concentration that I discerned on the 2022 last year, showing moderate delineation but missing some complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a little dry and austere, with a rustic, old-school finish. Drink it over the next decade.

Attractive black-cherry and chocolate notes framed by firm and chewy tannins that are rather coarse and grainy. Medium body. The finish is dry and lacks fruit expression. (04/2024)

Compared to its predecessor, the 2023 Cissac presents a more dense and austere profile, with aromas of cassis, spices, gentian and licorice. Medium-bodied, chewy and rich, it’s firm and concentrated with structured tannins and a long, mineral but dry finish. This is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec.
