The 2022 Volnay 1er Cru comes from Les Mitans and Pitures, part of the former uprooted so that the source is evenly spread. This very pure bouquet is elegant in style, a distinct level up from the Village Cru with detailed strawberry, raspberry and Earl Grey aromas, almost Pommard-like in personality. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, again a little Pommard-like in terms of structure, lightly spiced with a slightly compact finish at the moment. Ergo, give it 3-4 years once in bottle.
