2022 "Sommerhalde" Spätburgunder Großes Gewächs | MG

You don’t need to be a pinot noir fanatic to love this great Baden pinot noir. The spectrum of blue and red fruit aromas is very wide, and the combination of restrained richness and vitality on the medium- to full-bodied palate is stunning. Then come the fine chalky tannins that drive the very long and complete finish. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Spätburgunder Bombach Sommerhalde GG has a deep color and a nose that is as fascinatingly clear and elegant as it is pure and intense. The fruit is underlaid with fine terroir spice, along with notes of iodine, which also conveys freshness, a freshness that comes from below, from the soil, not just from the fruit, and is therefore more persistent, more promising. Silky and elegant on the palate, this i s juicy and balanced, with a very dense and powerful finish, even salty. Extremely generous, it's very long-lasting and always fresh and salty. Its a great wine and certainly Julian Huber's greatest vintage from the Sommerhalde so far. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024.
