The 2022 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is packed with blue/purplish fruit, sweet spice, leather and incense. Plush and opulent to the core, the Pastourelle will be a fun wine to drink in its youth while the fruit remains vibrant. The significant presence of Merlot in the blend (40%) comes through loud and clear in the wine's forward, slightly brash personality. I find the tannins a bit rough around the edges, especially on the finish, where heavy torrefaction notes from the oak are also quite present today.

A tight center-palate to this juicy red, with plum, chocolate and cedar aromas that follow through to a medium body with creamy tannins and a savory finish. Delicious. A blend of 52% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot, with carmenere and petit verdot. Very attractive now, but will age nicely. (01/2025)

It's going to shine right out of the gate. This second wine is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, with the balance Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, and Petit Verdot, brought up all in used barrels. It offers up scents of crushed black plums, juicy blackberries, and mulberries, followed by hints of pencil shavings, underbrush, and cumin seed.
