The 2022 La Gravette de Certan is 100% Merlot from three main blocks (including one in front of Le Pin), mainly sourced from younger vines that will eventually enter into VCC. Matured in 50% new oak, it has an open bouquet with blackberry, briar and light mint aromas. The medium-bodied palate is fresh, vibrant and quite saline with pliant tannins and an elegant, refined finish. This is just a lovely wine.

A pure merlot with plums, chocolate, hazelnuts and freshly cut violets. Medium-bodied with soft and round tannins and a beautiful, caressing palate. You really want to drink it. Second wine of Vieux Chateau Certan. Better after 2028. (01/2025)

Coming from 100% Merlot (all the Cabernet Franc went to the Grand Vin), the 2022 La Gravette De Certan comes from younger vines and spent 18 months in 50% new French oak. It's a forward, sexy second wine that has a ripe, voluptuous style in its red and black fruits, truffly earth, camphor, and flowery incense. Beautiful textured and medium to full-bodied, with solid, polished tannins and terrific overall balance, it's perfect for drinking any time over the coming 15 years or so. (02/2025)

Representing one-third of the estate's production, produced entirely from younger-vine Merlot, the 2022 La Gravette de Certan offers up rich aromas of blueberries, licorice, cigar ash and toasty oak. Full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's supple and voluptuous, with a sweet core of fruit and a giving, polished profile.
