The 2022 G d'Estournel is a powerful, dense wine. A blast of dark-toned fruit, leather, licorice, espresso and cloves is front and center. This Merlot-based Haut-Médoc very much shows the natural intensity of a very warm and dry growing season in its volume and overall presence. The 2022 is big, bold and beautiful. Time in the glass releases the aromatics, providing a clue of what is to come with aging.

Deep garnet-purple in color, it rolls effortlessly out of the glass with exuberant notes of ripe black cherries, warm plums, and mulberries, leading to wafts of cinnamon toast and garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate has an alluring savory quality, featuring lightly chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a peppery lift. (05/2023)
