2022 Domaine de l'Aurage

The 2022 Domaine de L'Aurage is a powerful, bold wine. There’s tons of intensity in the dark fruit, spice, chocolate and leather flavors. In this tasting, the tannins are a bit drying, especially on the finish. If that changes, the 2022 could very well turn out better than this early tasting suggests. The 100% new oak does not feel totally assimilated just yet.

I loved the 2022 Domaine De L'Aurage, which comes from a great terroir in the Castillon region. Cassis, graphite, vanilla bean, and acacia flower notes all define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied, with a layer, concentrated mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. (05/2023)

The 2022 L'Aurage, 100% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. Smoked meats, baked plums, and dried mulberries jump from the glass with hints of wild fungi and damp soil. It is full-bodied, concentrated, and a bit funky on the palate, with rounded tannins and soft acidity. (05/2023)
