The 2022 Valandraud Blanc is terrific. Dried pear, white flowers, mint and a hint of spice open first. Creamy and resonant on the palate, the Blanc is a gorgeous white for the dinner table. A few years in bottle will allow its textural breadth to emerge more fully. Readers should expect a decidedly rich, heady wine.

A fresh, pure and creamy nose with guava, meringue and lemon curd. A tad saline, this has a flavorful, medium- to full-bodied palate and a solid, lengthy finish. Compressed and lightly phenolic at the end with lots going on. Drink from 2026. (01/2025)

The flagship white from Jean-Luc needs to be tasted to be believed, and I continue to think this is one of the top whites in Bordeaux. A blend of 45% Sauvignon Gris, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, and the rest Sémillon, it has a killer bouquet of honeyed lime, flowers, salty minerality, and exotic citrus fruits. These carry to a medium to full-bodied white with integrated yet vibrant acidity, beautiful balance, and a great finish. It will evolve for two decades. (05/2023)

A blend of 45% Sauvignon Gris, 40% Sauvignon Blanc, and 15% Semillon, with a pH of 3.15, the 2022 white Valandraud comes bounding out with bold notes of white peaches, fresh pineapple, and orange blossoms, giving way to scents of candle wax, cedar, and nutmeg. The full-bodied palate is satin-textured with beautiful freshness and bags of juicy pear and tropical fruit flavors, finishing with great length. (05/2023)
