The 2022 Poujeaux is quite the powerhouse. A burst of dark red/blue fruits, cedar, pipe tobacco, incense, new leather and licorice saturates the palate. Dense, potent and explosive, the 2022 is certainly not a shy wine. It captures the essential qualities of the year in its interplay of opulent fruit and energy. I would prefer to cellar the 2022 for at least a few years. There's a lot of wine here. Tasted two times.

This is really structured and tannic, but the phenolics are very polished and creamy. You smell blackcurrants and minerals with fresh herbs, such as thyme and bay leaf. It's medium-bodied with firm, polished tannins and a long, intense finish. This will age beautifully. Excellent value for a cellar-worthy wine. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 42% merlot and 3% petit verdot. Wait until 2030 for this to soften. (01/2025)

The 2022 Château Poujeaux is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon but includes 42% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. A big, rich, almost massive Moulis, it sports a dense purple color, impressive notes of black fruits, chocolate, and crushed stone, medium to full-bodied richness, and a great finish. It might be the most impressive Poujeaux I've ever tasted. Tasted twice. (05/2023)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Poujeaux is a tad broody and closed to start off, offering notes of tar, burnt rubber, and damp soil, before revealing a core of cassis, Provence herbs, and plum preserves. The medium to full-bodied palate fills the mouth with savory and black fruit layers, supported by chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with an herbal lift. (05/2023)

Fleshy and generous in feel though reserved overall in style, with wet clay, tobacco and worn cedar notes gently infusing cassia and cherry puree flavors. Steady finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032. 20,000 cases made, 1,250 cases imported.

The 2022 Poujeaux offers up aromas of cassis, plums, pencil shavings and sweet soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated palate that opens with a velvety attack, segueing into a firmer, more austere mid-palate and finish that depress my score. If this rounds out with élevage, my review will prove conservative.
