The 2022 Mauvesin Barton is a potent, brooding wine. Rather unyielding today, the 2022 gradually reveals hints of cassis, licorice, lavender and spice. I would give this a few years in bottle to resolve some of its searing tannins.

Subtle notes of white pepper, cream and chalk to the fine currants and minerals. Attractive and really well-balanced, this has juicy red fruit, chalky tannins and a long but elegant finish that’s linear and refined. Already a joy to drink now. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Château Mauvesin Barton is terrific, with a ripe, medium-bodied, elegant profile as well as impressive cassis and currant-like fruit, some tobacco and graphite aromatics, fine tannins, and a great finish. It’s a brilliant Moulis in the making. (05/2023)

The 2022 Mauvesin Barton is composed of 55% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Cabernet Franc, aging in 33% new oak barrels. Deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out with lively notions of fresh blackberries, black raspberries, and red currant jelly. The medium to full bodied palate delivers taut, muscular fruit with wonderfully firm, fine-grained tannins and lovely freshness throughout, finishing long and fruity. Seriously impressive! (05/2023)

A stylish red, with warm clay, sandalwood and tea notes gliding through in unison with pretty plum and cassis flavors. The fine-grained finish shows a late flash of iron. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2034. 12,000 cases made.
