"...sehr schöne, frische, blaubeerige Frucht, ganz sauber, feine Dropsnote, schöne Statur, und schöne Struktur, leicht trockene Tannine, feine Bitterschoko." (07/2023)

Creamy blueberry and blackberry fruit on the opening beats, holds the line, adding in a kick of spice and a sweet damson puree finish, with well integrated tannic hold. Good quality, soft through the mid palate, but this is thoroughly enjoyable, easy to recommend, no need to wait too long, has confidence and finesse. Dourthe has big ambitions for this wine, increasing the amount of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, upping the quantity of press wine to increase structure (to 5%) and reducing production of grand vin by around one half, down to around 80,000 bottles from 150,000 bottles. Blending before ageing now, previously was at the end of the process. New cellar, new consultant Axel Marchal as of this vintage (blending in 2022, fully for 2023 vintage). (12/2024)

The 2022 La Garde is much more forward on the floral nose than it showed from barrel, with quite opulent blueberry and blackberry fruit aromas. Floral in style, the palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fine tension and a discrete pepperiness that defines the finish. There's good linearity here. This is a La Garde that should age well in bottle.

The floral character of violets and lilacs comes out clearly on the nose with black fruits such as brambleberries. Medium-bodied, this has fine and creamy tannins and a savory finish. Crushed stone at the end as well as clean fruit. Shows plenty of potential for aging. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Drink after 2028. (11/2023)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 La Garde Rouge reveals a nose of plum preserves, baked blackberries, and tar with wafts of aniseed and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate is juicy and uncomplicated, with a light chewiness to the tannins and a savory finish. (05/2023)

Taut and pure, with fleur de sel and blanched almond notes providing a spine, while lemon peel, yuzu and star fruit flavors course throughout. Focused, with a mouthwatering oyster shell echo hanging on the finish. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 1,333 cases made, 80 cases imported.

The 2022 La Garde wafts from the glass with aromas of dark wild berries, spices, mulberries and licorice mingled with delicate oaky notes. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, it has a fleshy core of fruit framed by a gently assertive tannic frame and a long, mineral and pencil lead-inflected finish.
