2022 Château Guillot Clauzel

The 2022 Guillot-Clauzel turned out beautifully. Lifted and aromatically precise, the Guillot-Clauzel is impressive. Floral and spice notes open first, announcing a healthy presence of Cabernet Franc. Red cherry fruit, blood orange, spice, mocha and lavender are beautifully amplified in the glass. The 2022 is the most elegant and refined wine I have tasted since Guillaume Thienpont took over the management of this estate in 2018. This is a gorgeous, sexy Pomerol that will be approachable with minimal cellaring.

This is linear and transparent with dark cherries and lemon rind. Subtle and fine. Medium-bodied with vibrating tanking that gives this vibe and length. Focused and pretty. 83% merlot and 17% Cabernet franc. Drink after 2028. (01/2025)

From vines just beside Le Pin and 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château Guillot-Clauzel is beautiful stuff and has a darker core of black cherries, damp earth, smoke, and tobacco. This beautifully concentrated, medium to full-bodied, layered Pomerol has ripe tannins, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and a great finish. I love its mix of richness and elegance, and it's a gorgeous 2022 to drink over the coming two decades. (02/2025)

The 2022 Guillot Clauzel is suave and charming, bursting with aromas of sweet cherries, dark berries, licorice and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with a lively but gourmand core of fruit and a harmonious, integrated profile, it's a real success.
