The 2022 Fonbadet is silky, plush and elegant, all qualities that lend notable immediacy. Succulent contours wrap around a core of dark red/purplish fruit, mocha, blood orange, cinnamon and new leather. This is impeccably balanced.

A well-structured Pauillac with a medium to full body, showing currants, fresh blackberries, minerals and a touch of graphite. Compact and chalky on the palate, which is packed with fruit. 80% cabernet sauvignon and 20% merlot. Long and already tempting, but better in two more years. Drink from 2027. (01/2025)

A consistent Pauillac, the 2022 Château Fonbadet has textbook notes of both red and black currants as well as freshly sharpened pencils, tobacco, and some subtle earthy nuances. It's balanced, medium to full-bodied, has ripe, supple tannins, and a great finish. You certainly wouldn't know it comes from an extremely hot, dry vintage by tasting it. There's enough structure here to warrant 4-6 years of bottle age, but it's an outstanding wine in the making. (2023)
