Dark fruit and perfumed aromas on the nose, smells deep and floral. Textured and forward, this has an almost plush feeling on the palate - both juicy and fleshy fruit gives a feeling of depth and layering while the bright acidity and clear mint, espresso, liquorice and wet stones give accents and increase the interest. It's not one of the fullest or longest, but it's sleek and really well worked where nothing feels overdone. Textbook Pauillac. - Georgina Hindle (01/2025)

The 2022 Fonbadet is silky, plush and elegant, all qualities that lend notable immediacy. Succulent contours wrap around a core of dark red/purplish fruit, mocha, blood orange, cinnamon and new leather. This is impeccably balanced.

A well-structured Pauillac with a medium to full body, showing currants, fresh blackberries, minerals and a touch of graphite. Compact and chalky on the palate, which is packed with fruit. 80% cabernet sauvignon and 20% merlot. Long and already tempting, but better in two more years. Drink from 2027. (01/2025)

Based on 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the 2022 Château Fonbadet reveals classic Pauillac notes of currants, cassis, graphite, and freshly sharpened pencil, with a kiss of leather in the background. Medium to full-bodied, it’s round, pure, and focused on the palate, with ripe tannins and an elegant, fine-grained texture. Vinified in concrete tanks, it was aged for 16 months in 50% new French oak, with the rest in once-used barrels. 2,083 cases produced. (02/2025)
