The 2022 Faugères was tasted twice, the second sample showing much more freshness on the nose with blackberry, wild strawberry and licorice aromas. The oak is nicely incorporated. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, lively with cedar and white pepper. It's fairly Left Bank in style on the structured finish. Good potential.

The 2022 Château Faugères comes from the cooler eastern edge of Saint-Emilion, and it looks to be a beautiful wine in the vintage. Ripe black cherries, leather, dried herbs, and loamy earth all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a balanced, elegant mouthfeel and ripe, yet building tannins. It's going to shine with just a few years of bottle age. (05/2023)

The 2022 Faugeres is composed of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, it is a touch closed and broody to start, soon revealing glimpses of baked plums, boysenberries, and tar notes with wafts of wild sage and damp soil. The full-bodied palate is lively and firmly textured, with plenty of savory fruit and a chewy finish. (05/2023)
