The 2022 Cos Labory is a fine effort from the château in the year where Michel Reybier and his team at Cos d'Estournel finished élevage and did the bottling. The 2022 offers tons of textural depth and overall intensity, but it comes across as on the edge of overripeness. Former owner Bernard Audoy began his harvest on September 14, a full week after Reybier and his team started picking at Cos.

A solid red with blackcurrants, cedar, sweet tobacco and hints of hot asphalt. Full-bodied, this has powerful tannins that are chewy and intense. More structured than I remembered. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot, 7% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc. This is the first vintage bottled by the owner of Cos d’Estournel, who bought the estate in 2023. Try after 2028. (01/2025)

Potentially the finest wine I've tasted from this 18-hectare château (which was sold to Michel Reybier in March of 2023), the 2022 Château Cos Labory has a perfumed, juicy, medium to full-bodied style carrying lots of darker, almost blue fruits as well as notes of violets, tobacco, and forest floor. It's balanced and has ripe, polished tannins and outstanding length. (05/2023)

The 2022 Cos Labory is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it features cheery notions of Morello cherries, wild blueberries, and freshly crushed blackcurrant, with hints of lavender, forest floor, and bay leaves. The full-bodied palate has impressive concentration and a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins with bold freshness and a long, earthy finish. This is an impressive first showing by the new owner, Michel Reybier! pH 3.71. (05/2023)

The 2022 Cos Labory delivers aromas of cassis, blueberries, spices and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, taut and tangy palate. A Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend, this minor Saint-Estèphe was acquired earlier this year by Michel Reybier, the proprietor of Cos d'Estournel.
