The 2022 Clos Marsalette is quite bold and fruity in its first impression, but then the Pessac-Léognan savoriness and tannins kick in on the mid-palate and finish. Succulent dark cherry, plum, licorice, spice and gravel infuse the 2022 with notable complexity. The 2022 is an infant today, very much still on its primary intensity, but it also has terrific energy.

Red and black fruits, ripe tobacco, and leafy herbs define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with quality tannins. This total charmer will drink well right out of the gate. Deep garnet-purple in color, notes of black cherries, juicy plums, and fresh blackberries notes jump from the glass, followed by hints of dusty soil and charcoal. The light to medium-bodied palate is soft, elegant, and refreshing with a lively backbone and minerally finish. (05/2023)
