"…ganze reife, schöne, warme Frucht, sehr dunkle Kirschen und Cassis, ganz viel Charme, Schoko, große Struktur, feine Blumigkeit, sehr schöne Länge mit kräftigen, sehr guten Tanninen. Ein großer Klassiker." (11/2024)

"...(Schwarzes Etikett wegen dem Todesjahr der Queen) sehr schöne schwarzbeerige Frucht, Cassis, komplexe, intensive Nase, aber auch schöne Frische, große Struktur, sehr kräftige Tannine, aber ganz reife Tannine, braucht Zeit aber wird groß, feines Leder, Lakritze, gewisser Charme, sehr lang." Seductive aromatics of blackcurrants, damsons, liquorice, tobacco and clove. Powerful yet balanced, with sinewy tannins, crisp acidity and razor-sharp precision. Slate, graphite, dark chocolate and espresso add depth. Outstanding value for Pauillac, delivering structure and longevity. Compact, but built to age beautifully. - Georgie Hindle (12/2024)

The 2022 Batailley exudes a sense of precision on the nose that distinguishes it from vintages you might have found up to a decade ago. It has very focused, seamlessly integrated oak and predominantly black fruit laced with pencil shavings and cedar, rubber-stamping its Pauillac origin. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins. This is very harmonious with a smooth texture, finely pitched acidity and a slightly spicy finish that will require five or six years to soften. The Castéja family has really taken Batailley to greater heights in recent years, reliving some of the past glories like the 1947, 1955 and 1961.

The blackcurrants and lead pencil reveal themselves immediately with so many fresh-flower undertones like violets. Medium-bodied, this has intense yet refined tannins that show length and elegance as well as structure. A fine interpretation of the vintage. 75% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot and 3% petit verdot. Cassis, darker currants, tobacco, and some earthy goodness all emerge from the 2022 Château Batailley, a medium to full-bodied Pauillac with wonderful purity, a good spine of acidity, and ripe, integrated tannins. Based on 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, it's clearly an outstanding wine, if not more. (05/2023)

The 2022 Batailley is composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes galloping out with energetic notes of crushed blackcurrants, Morello cherries, and fresh, juicy blackberries, plus hints of tar, licorice, lavender, and garrigue. The medium-bodied palate delivers taut, muscular black fruits with loads of spicy sparks and a firm texture of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and mineral-laced. pH 3.7. (05/2023)

An especially strong effort for this estate, the 2022 Batailley exhibits aromas of dark berries, cassis, licorice and sweet soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and layered palate. It's a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and the balance Petit Verdot.
