While Huber's Chardonnay from the Schlossberg impresses with its elegance, the first impression of the wine from the Bienenberg is somewhat rougher. The light phenolic structure, acquired through pressing in a spindle press, will ensure longevity but still needs time to soften in its youth. In contrast, the Bienenberg allows the melon and citrus peel to shine amid the smoky and stony impressions.

Huber's 2022 Chardonnay Malterdingen Bienenberg GG has a dense, intense, elegant and powerful nose with some fresh phenolic aromas as well as salty nuances. As always, it is more open-hearted and fruit-forward than the Schlossberg. On the palate, it is astringent, salty and citrusy, very fresh and tightly woven, still quite reserved and ahead of its time. The finish is extremely stringent and quite powerful. Give it time! Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024.
