"Subtle dried herb spices on the opening, quiet concentration and enjoyable raspberry fruit wash, not quite the fresh edge of the 2021 at this estate, softens the Barolo signature. 1ha plot of vines. This can be drunk soon, and will hold at least five years. 18 months in large oak casks before 6 months in bottle. Winemaker Stefano Chiarlo." (02/2025)

"Fragrant nose full of rose petals and violets with sweet strawberries and some dried herbs. Sappy and fresh, this has a nice liveliness to it, clean and clear with a juicy core. Tannis have grip and bite with a soft graphite, wet stone undercurrent and licks of iron, liquorice, aniseed and tobacco on the finish. Cool and lively. Just so juicy and mouth puckering, really excellent to eat food with, light on its feet but with a deep core of flavour. Iron filings, some bitter orange but super fun." - Georgina Hindle (02/2025)

"(Barbaresco; 100% Nebbiolo; from Michele Chiarlo’s 1 hectare holding in the Faset MGA; 14% alcohol). Lovely, bright, lifted and aerial. Fresh and herbal with a pleasing hint of roasted coffee beans, black tea leaf and wild herbal notes. There’s eucalyptus and maybe a little hint of TCP and a dusty earthy undertone. Lithe and sinuous in the mouth, with lots of intensity and yet a glacial mid-palate. Crumbly tannins build towards the finish. A great vintage of this wine and excellent value. Sapid and refreshing."

The 2022 Barbaresco Faset is a delicate, understated wine. Crushed flowers, red cherry fruit, mint and rose petals offer quite a bit of promise. On the palate, the 2022 comes across as a bit light in overall structure. It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Today, the tannins are rather nervy. - Antonio Galloni (08/2024)
