2021 La Gravette de Certan

The 2021 La Gravette de Certan is 100% Merlot from the estate's younger vines. Pliant, soft and quite accessible, the 2021 is a lovely wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Juicy red/purplish fruits, lavender, mocha and spice are front and center. The 2021 is a fine choice for readers who want to get their VCC fix without venturing into some of the estate's bigger wines.

A bright, fresh, lovely wine with hints of milk chocolate, cedar and plums as well as some meat. Medium body, fine tannins that are integrated and fluid. Pure merlot. Drink now but will improve with age. (07/2024)

The 2021 La Gravette De Certan is all Merlot, as all of the Cabernet Franc went into the Grand Vin. From healthy yields of 38 hectoliters per hectare and brought up in 50% new French oak, it has a vivid ruby hue to go with classic Pomerol notes of ripe black cherries, kirsch, spring flowers, and hints of damp earth. It's medium-bodied, has a pure, elegant mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity, and outstanding length. Drink this charming, fruit-forward, wonderfully textured second wine over the coming decade. La Gravette de Certan 2021 is 100% Merlot. It is medium to deep garnet-purple in color and it jumps from the glass with notes of juicy black plums, boysenberries, and Morello cherries, with underlying suggestions of clove oil, allspice, and lavender oil. The medium-bodied palate delivers bags of bright, crunchy black and red fruits, supported by a racy line and ripe, rounded tannins, finishing long with a cheery lift. (04/2024)

Bursting with aromas of blackberries and cherries mingled with petals, licorice and pencil shavings, the 2021 La Gravette de Certan is medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with supple tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a minty finish.
