"Outpost's Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a selection of their best vineyard blocks, planted up to 670 meters in elevation, all fermented separately and spending 18 months in 85% new French oak. It's a classic Howell Mountain Cabernet expression, leading with mountain-grown blueberry, violets, sage and bay laurel. Those all enjoy repeat performances on the palate, which is layered with rum-raisin notes and long beams of burly tannins that resolve in a rush of mocha spices and salty minerals." - Jonathan Cristaldi (03/2024)

Lavender, crushed rocks, graphite, spice, chocolate and plum are some of the notes that inform this dynamic, beautifully complex Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2021 is a blend of about two-thirds from the Outpost property and one-third from True Vineyard.

Coming from a mix of estate and True Vineyard fruit, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is brilliant stuff and has a more forward, rounded, sexy style than most in the vintage. Lots of red, blue, and black fruits, charcoal, graphite, and spicy oak define this beauty, which is medium to full-bodied, has plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Drink bottles over the coming 15-20 years. (02/2024)
