2021 Château Le Boscq

The 2021 Le Boscq is quite delicate in this vintage, yet it conveys plenty of Saint-Estèphe character. Crushed rose petal, mint, blood orange, spice, dried leaves and earthy tones are all laced together. The 2021 is a quiet, understated wine, but its balance is impeccable. Floral notes reappear on the finish.

Gravel, citrus rind, spices, olives and currants on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, savory and balanced with medium-firm, creamy tannins. Nicely composed. 50% cabernet sauvignon, 42% merlot, 6% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc. Drink from 2025. (07/2024)

Earthy tobacco, darker currants, plum, graphite, and sappy floral/herbal notes emerge from the 2021 Château Le Boscq, a rich, medium-bodied, nicely concentrated Saint-Estèphe that has ripe, polished tannins and a fleshy, full, layered mouthfeel. It's a touch rustic aromatically but is rock-solid on the palate. (04/2024)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Le Boscq is a little subdued, soon offering scents of cassis and black cherries followed by hints of graphite and bay leaves. Medium-bodied, the palate is chewy and lively, with just enough fruit to match the structure, and a fruity finish. (05/2022)

Shows a woodsy hint out front, with singed alder and cedar holding sway over black currant fruit, while a tangy sanguine thread runs through the finish. Offers freshness, but you have to like St.-Estèphe austerity and have some patience. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2031. 7,833 cases made, 125 cases imported.

The 2021 Le Boscq, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, reveals a smoky, earthy bouquet with aromas of licorice, gentian, dark berries and a touch of oak. Medium to full-bodied and rich with a fleshy core of fruit, it’s concentrated and has a tannic, spicy finish.
