The 2018 Clos Saint-Martin is racy, supple and so expressive. Crushed flowers, mint, blood orange and raspberry all build with a bit of time in the glass, framed by ripe, silky tannins that make the 2018 a pure joy to taste today. The 2018 can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring, but also has the depth and verve to drink well for a number of years. It's a terrific effort from proprietor Sophie Fourcade.

Blackberries and dark cherries, with herb and violet notes. It’s full-bodied with an inky feel, providing savory, supple character. The structure is still a bit tight, but the tannins are well formed. Nicely balanced. Try after 2024. (03/2021)

Showing even better from bottle than barrel, the 2018 Clos Saint-Martin is a brilliant Saint-Emilion that's up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Rocking levels of blackcurrant and ripe cherry fruits as well as notes of white truffle, toasted spices, camphor, and dried herbs emerge from the glass, and this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a rounded, elegant texture, velvety tannins, and a great, great finish. This ripe, expansive 2018 is going to round into form with 3-5 years of bottle age (it's beautiful even today) and evolve for 20-25 years or so. (03/2021)

Clos Saint Martin 2018 is deep garnet purple in color. It leaps from the glass with scents of warm plums, baked blackberries, and warm cherries, plus wafts of clove oil and sandalwood. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is plush with lovely freshness and it finishes with a spicy lift. (02/2023)

A blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Clos St. Martin offers up pronounced scents of stewed black plums, black cherry compote and dried Mediterranean herbs with hints of graphite, crushed rocks and cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, it has a slightly chewy frame at this early stage coming from the wood tannins and a cedary undercurrent drawing attention from the compelling black fruits, finishing with nice freshness if a little woody. Give it a good 4-5 years for the oak to marry and soften, then drink it over the next 15 years or more.
