2018 Château Roc de Cambes

Just as it was in barrel, the 2018 Roc de Cambes is a potent, brooding wine with huge tannins and a real sense of gravitas. Readers should be in no rush here. Black fruit, chocolate, new oak, gravel, smoke, licorice and grilled herbs all power through. Quite frankly, Roc de Cambes takes the Côtes de Bourg to a whole new level.

The Le Pin of the Côtes de Bourg, this full-bodied, seamless, sexy wine has sweet tannins, integrated oak, and a blockbuster of a great finish. The 2018 Roc de Cambes has a deep garnet purple color. It is very oaky to start, overlaying notes of prunes, baked blackberries, and raisin cake, plus Chinese five spice and leather. Full-bodied, the palate is very firm, hard and chewy, with a rustic finish. (02/2023)
