The 2018 Lagrange (Pomerol) is boisterous and racy, both of which give it tons of immediacy. Red cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco, crushed flowers and spice lend notable complexity. The tannins are a bit firm, but time in bottle should help that somewhat. This deceptively mid-weight Pomerol packs plenty of punch.

Extremely perfumed and refined with black olives and cherries. Floral undertones. Full-bodied, yet reserved. Stone and dry-earth character to the dark fruit on the palate. Juicy and creamy-textured finish. Best after 2025. (03/2021)

The 2018 Château Lagrange is 100% Merlot and comes from a small 9-hectare vineyard of gravelly, clay soils in Pomerol. This deeply colored effort offers lots of graphite and chocolate as well as ripe black cherry fruit, medium to full body, beautiful purity, and building tannins. It shows the richness of the vintage yet stays focused and fresh on the palate. Drink it anytime over the coming 10-15 years or so. (05/2019)

This has a notable tobacco and bay leaf profile out front, followed by bramble-textured, gently mulled plum and black cherry fruit.

Made from 100% Merlot, the 2018 Lagrange (Pomerol) has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and alluring scents of plum preserves, Morello cherries and blackberry compote, plus suggestions of camphor, tobacco leaf and forest floor. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers plenty of freshness to lift the earthy, muscular core, with a rugged, chewy texture to boot, finishing savory. It's of a rather rustic, old-school style that should improve slightly with bottle age, but not much.
