2017 Château Lanessan

The 2017 Lanessan has really developed well over the last year and a half. Far deeper and more complex than it was from barrel, the 2017 possesses terrific mid-palate pliancy and depth. Sweet tobacco, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice and dried flowers add lovely shades of nuance to this attractive mid-weight Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois.

A juicy red with walnut and chili aromas and flavors. Some soya and driftwood. Medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. A little short, but enjoyable. Drink or hold. (01/2020)

The 2017 Lanessan is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It rolls out with expressive scents of redcurrant jelly and raspberry preserves, plus touches of wild sage, tilled soil, and charcoal. Medium-bodied, the palate is youthful and lively, with plush tannins and a spicy lift on the finish. (12/2022)

Exhibiting impressive concentration for the vintage, the 2017 Lanessan is an attractive, medium-bodied wine evocative of sweet raspberries, rose petals, tobacco leaf and forest floor. Supple and charming, but with sneaky depth and persistence, it represents a strong performance for this estate.
