The 2016 Syrah Sebastiano-Patterson is very closed down today. Perhaps the whole clusters need time to integrate more fully. There is good depth and definition, but the wine is austere and not fully fleshed out. Time in the glass brings out attractive rose petal, tobacco, smoke, dried herb, tangerine and white pepper nuances. Given the overall strength of the wines in this range, my sense is that the 2016 just needs time to fully emerge.
