A selection from two blocks of Syrah vines raised all in new barrels, the 2016 Terrasses Du Larzac Le Songe d'Éocène boasts a big, full-bodied, concentrated style as well as smoking good notes of black currants, blackberries, cured meats, and smoked earth. It's a big wine and not for those looking for lightweight aromas and flavors, but has sweet tannin, rock-solid balance, and a great finish. I’m a huge fan. (07/2018)

Every bit as good as it looked last year, the 2016 Terrasses du Larzac le Songe d'Eocene is a stunner. Aromas of vanilla, grilled plums, violets and crème de cassis soar from the glass, while the palate is full-bodied, concentrated and chewy and loaded with vibrant purple fruit flavor. The tannins mellow on the lingering finish, making it approachable now but suggesting up to a decade (or more?) of prime-time drinking.
