The 2016 Lamothe-Bergeron is savory, expressive and wonderfully nuanced. Grilled herb, smoke, leather, tobacco, game, plum and cedar give this Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois tons of character. Delicate and understated in the glass, the 2016 will drink well over the next handful of years, maybe more. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot

This has a plush array of fine tannins and delivers an impressively structured palate with assertive and lively tannins, carrying plush and elegant, red-berry flavors in fresh resolve. Try from 2021. (02/2019)

90 POINTS

The 2016 Château Lamothe-Bergeron is one of the standouts, which given the quality of the vintage, shouldn’t surprise anyone. Medium-bodied aromas and flavors of currants, black cherries, licorice, graphite, and tobacco define this beauty, which has silky tannins, outstanding balance, and a great finish. It's a lively, elegant wine that's going to continue putting on weight over the coming 2-4 years and drinking spectacularly well over the following decade. (08/2021)

89-91 POINTS

The 2016 Chateau Lamothe-Bergeron has impressive freshness and vitality on the nose: bouyant black fruit mixed with tobacco and graphite. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, harmonious in the mouth with good depth, a lot of new oak on the finish but that should be subsumed by the time this is in bottle. There is potential here.
