" Opens with a curl of smoked citrus, flaky pastry, pink grapefruit and toast. Plenty of character of a vintage Champagne as it gathers tertiary character, retaining a green apple kick of fresh acidity. 3g/l resisidual sugar, 10 years of ageing. Grapes from Premiers and Grands Crus villages of Mailly, Cumières, Chigny-les-Roses, Avize, Chouilly and Vertus. Florent Roques-Boizel director, 10% vinified in oak barrels. A complicated, slow-ripening vintage that finished well, and this has good ageing potential, although not quite at the heights of the exceptional 2008 Joyau."

"Crystalline and pure, buttery brioche and soft honeyed notes on the nose with some autolytic characters, yeast and truffle - pain perdu, cinnamon, ginger and toasted almonds. Youthful and buzzy, more so on the palate than the nose suggests, this shines in the glass, it has enough texture to give body and fullness, enough sweetness to give appeal and enough dryness to be great for aperitifs or food. Lemon, lime, pear and peach tones, with some caramel and overt wood in the background suggesting this has at least 10 years ahead of it. Lots of energy and intensity. Quite a serious take but very compelling. Crunchy ending with ginger spice and lemon pith. Dosage 8g/l." - Georgina Hindle (02/2024)
