(made from a blend of co-fermented syrah [95%] and viognier [5%], as the name would suggest): Deep ruby. Primary dark berries and pungent flowers on the deeply perfumed nose and in the mouth. Juicy and tightly wound, with slow-building spiciness and a hint of black pepper. Unfolds nicely with air and becomes more fleshy while maintaining vibrancy. Closes smoky, tight and long, with dusty tannins adding shape and grip. (JR)
