2010 Le Dix

(85% cabernet sauvignon, 10% carmenere and 5% syrah): Inky ruby. Pungent smoke- and spice-accented aromas of cherry compote, redcurrant and cured tobacco, with suave vanilla and clove nuances gaining strength with air. Juicy and precise, offering intense red berry and bitter cherry flavors that take on sweetness with air. Dusty tannins come on late and add shape to the very long, sweet, incisive finish. This wine has the balance to age.

The aromas of this are complex with currants and blackberries with rose petal and hints of sweet tobacco. This is extremely balanced and harmonious with pretty fruit and hints of sandalwood and 85% cabernet sauvignon, 10% carmenere, and 5% syrah. 18 months in barrel, mostly new oak. 10,000 cases. Juicy and fruity, with plum pudding and brandied cherry flavors that show notes of dried basil. Mineral and slate accents fill the chewy finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Carmenère. Drink now through 2016. 700 cases imported.
