"1 Star" POINTS

(for 375 ml.) Butterscotch and caramel notes on the nose lead to a rich, buttery, thickly textured palate with flavors of caramel and saltwater taffy. At the same time there is a juicy orange citrus side trying to be heard. Attractively bittersweet hints of orange marmalade and some overtly pungent botrytis notes emerge in the finish. Formidably long, with a faintly chili pepper-like prickle. This needs time to harmonize and focus. 1 star.

98 POINTS
If you’ve never tasted a mature dessert wine, then you must try this to find out how incredible these wines can be. Great nose of peat and gunpowder underlined by notes of molasses and candied orange slices. Concentrated and rich, but elegant and beautifully balanced on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Very long, subtle finish. Drink or hold.

90 POINTS

A well-integrated sweetie, combining rich, caramel and citrus flavors and a vibrant structure. Although intense, it shows more grace than power. Drink now through 2008. 1,400 cases made, 650 cases imported.

The amber-colored 1999 Trockenbeerenauslese No 6 Grande Cuvée Nouvelle Vague (Library Release 2024) is deep, refined and very intense on the nevertheless finessed nose that tends almost toward red wine or Colheita in its toasty and darker-toned fruit aromas that are reminiscent of potted cherries and plums as well as iodine, syrup and chestnut honey. Rich and elegant on the palate, with cedarwood and graphite (pencil tip) notes, this is a highly refined and elegant, very saline, vital and salivating TBA with oatmeal notes on the finish. This is a superb 25-year-old TBA. 10.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2024.
